Samsung Overhauls Wellness Suite to Simplify Sleep and Fitness Tracking

2 min read

Samsung Electronics America is rolling out a significant update to its Samsung Health app, focusing on removing barriers for users trying to improve their nightly rest. One of the most notable changes is the streamlined entry point for Sleep Coaching. Previously, users needed a full week of data within a month to start the program, but the updated app now requires only three days of data over a two-week period. This change allows people to dive into personalized sleep management much faster than before.

Once inside the program, users undergo a brief survey about their caffeine habits and sleep quality to be assigned a unique sleep animal symbol. From there, the app creates a customized coaching plan lasting between four and eight weeks. Rather than offering static advice, the system uses behavioral sleep science to adapt its weekly suggestions based on how your patterns shift. To keep things visual, Samsung introduced a pentagon shaped balance graph that lets users see at a glance how their energy scores and sleep regularity are trending.

Beyond the bedroom, Samsung is expanding its reach into athletics and nutrition. The Running Coach feature now includes twelve training tiers instead of ten, providing more challenging benchmarks for experienced athletes who have moved beyond beginner levels. In an effort to foster community, runners can now export their achievements into social media templates or import their favorite routes directly from Strava. It turns the solitary act of jogging into a more connected experience shared with friends and digital fitness circles.

The update also brings high tech tools to the dinner table with the introduction of Scan Meal in beta for U.S. users. Instead of tedious manual logging, users can simply photograph their plate to receive instant caloric breakdowns and ingredient insights. This data feeds into a new Diet Score that categorizes eating habits from needs attention to excellent across seven different dimensions. Together with these dietary tools and enhanced fitness tracking, Samsung aims to turn raw biometric data into actionable daily habits for overall wellness.
