Samsung Overhauls Wellness Suite to Fast Track Better Rest and Faster Runs

2 min read

Samsung is making it significantly easier for users to optimize their nightly rest with a major update to the Samsung Health app. In a move to lower the barrier for entry, the company has reduced the amount of data required to start its Sleep Coaching program. Instead of needing a full week of tracking over a month, users can now jumpstart their journey toward better sleep with just three days of data collected within a two week window. This streamlined process allows people to get personalized guidance much faster than before.

The updated coaching system blends biometric data with a user survey covering everything from caffeine intake to general sleep satisfaction. Based on these inputs, the app assigns users a specific sleep animal symbol and launches a customized program lasting between four and eight weeks. Rather than following a static plan, the guidance evolves in real time, adjusting weekly recommendations based on shifting patterns and daily feedback. To make sense of all this information, Samsung introduced a pentagon shaped balance graph that offers an instant snapshot of five critical metrics including energy scores and sleep regularity.

Beyond the bedroom, Samsung is also leveling up its fitness offerings by expanding its Running Coach capabilities. The training tiers have grown from ten to twelve levels, providing specialized tracks for intermediate and advanced athletes who want to push beyond basic benchmarks. To keep runners motivated, the app now includes improved social sharing tools so users can easily post their personal records and route highlights across various platforms using custom templates.

Rounding out the update is a deeper integration with Strava, allowing enthusiasts to import their preferred running and cycling routes directly into Samsung Health. According to Hon Pak, senior vice president of digital health at Samsung Electronics, these changes are part of a broader effort to turn complex health data into actionable steps for everyday wellness. These enhancements are rolling out gradually starting in October for compatible Galaxy devices and wearables.
