Viral Rumors About Texas Senate Candidate’s Health Proven False

2 min read

Texas State Representative James Talarico spent nearly ten days away from the campaign trail recently, but according to the candidate and medical professionals, it was due to a severe bout of the flu rather than a secret trip to a psychiatric ward. The Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate found himself at the center of a digital firestorm after conservative influencers began circulating claims that he had traveled to Ohio for mental health treatment. These allegations gained massive traction on social media, with some posts garnering millions of views and suggesting that such a revelation would effectively end his bid for office.

The speculation intensified when opponents pointed to flight paths showing a private jet traveling between Austin and Hamilton, Ohio, near the prestigious Lindner Center of Hope. Even Attorney General Ken Paxton weighed in on the narrative, sharing a mock wanted poster that characterized Talarico as mentally fragile. However, the theories crumbled quickly when the Lindner Center issued a public statement explicitly denying that Talarico had ever been a patient at their facility. For his part, Talarico dismissed the noise with laughter, noting that he has never even visited the state of Ohio.

Talarico explained that his absence was simply a matter of recovery following a visit to a Dallas urgent care clinic late last month. He noted that he chose to step back from public appearances to avoid prolonging his illness, opting instead for bed rest at home. After returning to the spotlight at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, he confirmed in an interview with The Dallas Morning News editorial board that he is now fully recovered and ready to resume his campaign activities at full speed. While Paxton’s office declined to comment on the debunked rumors, Talarico appears focused on moving past the controversy.
