Shopping for health essentials just got simpler for thousands of Medicare patients across the Midwest. Meijer has officially begun accepting evermore over-the-counter spend cards, allowing eligible customers to use their supplemental health plan benefits directly at checkout. This move integrates these specialized spending accounts into the retail giant’s existing systems, making it much easier for seniors and other qualifying members to pick up approved wellness items alongside their regular groceries.
Jackie Morse, Group Vice President of Pharmacy and Health at Meijer, noted that the goal is to make healthcare more affordable and accessible. By adding this payment option, the retailer aims to streamline how customers manage their wellbeing, providing a single location where they can find everything from prescription medications to healthy food options covered by their specific insurance plans.
The partnership significantly expands the reach of evermore users across several states, including Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. Jared Childs, VP of Growth at evermore, highlighted Meijer’s long standing reputation as a one stop shop for families in these regions. He explained that bringing the card’s acceptance to such a prominent retailer removes barriers for those trying to utilize their plan benefits effectively.
While the integration simplifies the payment process, customers are encouraged to check their individual health plan documentation or speak with their providers to understand exactly which items are covered. Because different Medicare Advantage plans vary in terms of balance limits and approved product lists, verifying coverage beforehand ensures a smoother trip through the aisles. For those with questions about eligibility, staff at local Meijer stores or representatives from their insurance companies remain the best resources.
